Collection
Collection is a common trade settlement method for loans in international trades as well as other fees and expenses. Following are brief account of the collection transactions provided by BIN:
1) Clean Collection
BIN provides three types of clean collection services: separate check collection, cash letter and final credit.
Separate check collection:
It generally applies to those checks in large amount and/or of high risk. The fund will not be credited to the client's account until Bin receives the BIN receives it from the paying bank.
Cash letter service:
It generally applies to collection of USD check and traveler's check issued by American banks.
Funds received under this collection service shall be deposited for at least one month considering the possible rejection by the issuing bank.
Final credit service
Final credit is a special method of clean collection. Under this service, collection will be done through our overseas corresponding bank and funds collected will be credited by the corresponding bank to our account within the valid time or rejected with notice.
Limitations for final credit service:
For payment of checks issued by banks in U.S (excluding Guam , Samoan and Mariana), the amount of each check should not exceed USD750,000. The check shall be original (not photostat copy), physically complete (not damaged) and within the valid period.
Checks in large amount or with a potential high risk, we recommend the method of separate check collection. Funds will be credited to the client's account when received from the paying bank. This service is not applicable to post-dated checks, checks formerly collected or generally rejected checks, as well as U.S Treasury checks. |
2) Export Documentary Collection
Under Export Documentary Collection, the export will present BIN all the relevant documents and delegate us to collect the payment for the goods from the importer. BIN is entitled to choose a collecting bank if the one nominated by the exporter does not have an agency relationship with BIN or the exporter does not nominated any.
1) There are two types of Export Documentary Collection, i.e. Document against Payment (D/P) and Documents against Acceptance (D/A). Banks will not examine documents in order to obtain instructions. Banks utilizing the services of another bank or other banks for the purpose of giving effect to the instructions of the principal do so for the account of and at the risk of such principal.
2) Bill Purchase and Discount: A Client applying for this service must have a credit line in BIN. The application of the credit line is the same as that for the loan limit.
If BIN reviews and approves the funds to the exporter, it will credit the funds to the client's account with deduction of a certain amount of relevant expenses.
3) Import Documentary Collection
Under import collection, BIN will notify the Importer when receiving the documents from an overseas collecting bank, and request the Importer to honor the payment or acceptance. |
